On January 14^th the House of Music and Dance in Zabrze hosted the 20^th edition of Laurels of Skills and Competences award ceremony organised annually by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice.

We had the pleasure of participating in the event by providing Portuguese and English consecutive interpreting during the dinner organised by Mr Zygmunt Łukaszczyk, the Silesian Province Governor, in the Province Office and simultaneous interpreting during the award ceremony.

This year the highest award, the diamond laurels, was granted to Josѐ Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, and Donald Tusk, the Polish Prime Minister. Mr Barroso received the award personally from Mr Jerzy Buzek who, on the very same evening, was honoured with a special award, the Silesian Piasts Eagle.

President Bronisław Komorowski sent his address to the participants of the ceremony. This year’s award winners included a total of 52 companies, institutions and prominent personalities in the field of science, culture, politics and economy.

The ceremony was followed by an excellent music show “Buffo Hits” directed by Janusz Józefowicz under the music supervision of Janusz Stokłosa.
